This scene was not included in the U.S. version of the show, but will supposedly be shown in the international version. It shows Tony and I at Malay Foods in Rajagiriya (just off the Parliament Road). I thought it was one of the better segments of the show because Tony was finally feeling better (a few beers prior to the shoot helped), and, if you don’t mind me saying so, the kid was in pretty good form as well. Plus, I really eat at this place almost every day because its right up the road from my mother’s place, and the Riaz brothers who run it always make stuff off the menu for me. Barbath (tripe) is another Malay specialty that we did not sample that day, but if you’re ever passing by, please try it–you will not be disappointed. The Nasi goreng and devilled fish and chicken are always up to par and I love the kancun (morning glory) sauteed in a garlicky sweet and sour sauce as well.
Now if they would just show the Katpaham Restaurant segment! That was some of the spiciest Jaffna food I have ever had.
