Just wanted to let everyone know about a couple upcoming events where you’ll find me spreading the gospel of RICE & CURRY.
The first is Saturday, May 9th from 10am-5pm in my old stomping grounds of Brooklyn, NYC. I’ll be selling jars of my one-of-a-kind curry powder, made from a family recipe given to me by our family cook, Leela (see the No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, Sri Lanka epsiode further down in this blog) at The Brooklyn Flea, and amazing market/craft fair featuring many great artisanal food makers as well.
Of course, you can always mail-order it directly from me ($7 plus $3 shipping/handling) via credit card payment to:
at http://www.paypal.com (a secure site for online payments)
Looking ahead to June, I will be hosting a fund-raising dinner for my good buddy Scotty Hard, a music producer who was seriously injured in a car accident last year. In addition to music, Scotty’s other serious passion is food, and in order to help raise money for his ongoing medical expenses and rehabilitation, a series of “Scotty Hard Suppers” have been thrown around the world in some of the finest restaurants by some amazing chefs. The Scotty Hard Sri Lankan Supper, catered by yours truly, will be an intimate dinner for 20 in New York City featuring an assortment of curries and other Sri Lankan Specialties all prepared by me. Some high profile guests will be in attendance, but unfortunately, as soon as it was posted online it sold out. I do hope to do another fund-raiser in another city, however, perhaps Baltimore or DC. Please check out the menu, and see what other dinners have been done in honor of Scotty Hard.
And don’t forget to pick up a copy of the cookbook, Rice&Curry: Sri Lankan Home Cooking by S.H. Fernando Jr.
I thank all those who copped one already, and I encourage everyone to support independent enterprise.
After all, a man’s gotta eat!!
