After years of doing Supper clubs and Pop-ups in all manner of places, I’m finally taking the plunge, folks, and opening up my own underground restaurant. And here’s the rub–it’s going to be in my own home! Think of it as a speakeasy serving delicious food. People are constantly asking me, “When are you going to open your own restaurant?” My stock answer has always been, “When someone gives me a few hundred thousand dollars.” Well, having just moved to a bigger place, which features a fabulous dining room, I thought, “Why not?” and “If not now, when?”
So witness the birth of Skiz’s Original Suppers. Twice a month I will host a dinner at my home for 8 lucky people. The menu will, of course, be a revolving one, mainly centered around the foods I love. You already know I love Sri Lankan food, but I’m also into all of the cuisines of Asia. I’ve also been known to dabble in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines not to mention South American and African, so the menu for these suppers is guaranteed to be all over the map.
All the suppers will be served family-style and are BYOB, and I will post a menu a couple weeks before the actual dinner. You can reserve a spot at the table by dropping me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Suppers will generally include an appetizer, main courses and dessert, and will not cost more than $50 bucks a pop.
